Wamp Server 2.2 Windows 7 64-bit and curl not working side-by-side configuration incorrect

If your having problems with php curl not starting using the following wamp installation:

wampserver2.2e-php5.4.3-httpd2.2.22-mysql5.5.24-x64.exe on Windows 64bit.

wampserver2.2e-php5.4.3-httpd-2.4.2-mysql5.5.24-x64.exe on Windows 64bit.

Getting curl failed to start because the side-by-side configuration incorrect?

Getting the following error in the event log?

Activation context generation failed for “c:\wamp\bin\php\php5.4.3\ext\php_curl.dll”. Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC90.DebugCRT,processorArchitecture=”amd64″,publicKeyToken=”1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b”,type=”win32″,version=”9.0.21022.8″ could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis.

Download the following:

Or replace the entire PHP folder using

Replace the old php_curl.dll with the new one in \wamp\bin\php\php5.4.3\ext\

And, try starting Apache again.

Hope this helps someone!

We tried your solution but no luck. It still throws the same error. Will appreciate your help. We are using Windows Server 2008 R2.

First double check you are using php 5.4.3 64 bit

More dlls can be found here if you can’t find the one you need.

The most stable version of wamp is 2.1 (Download WAMP 2.1 64bit). It has curl that works and php_zip.dll thats missing from all the 2.2 versions.

My problem started yesterday, i had wamp 2.2e(apache 2.2) and tried to enable curl but it didnt work, then i tried to install wamp with apache 2.4 but still couldn’t enable curl.

The solution for me was to replace the dll with the one in your link:

    Thank you so much!

    Worked for me!

  12. Kirk says:

FWIW, my problem was that I had upgraded PHP from 5.2.x to 5.3.13. After the upgrade, I had to specifically tell curl to use the SSLv3 protocol (it defaults to SSLv2) as follows:

    curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSLVERSION, 3);

  13. swingbrian says:

Thank you for this! It works great!

There seems to be a bug somewhere. If you are experiencing this on Win 7 64 bit then try installing apache addon version 2.2.9 and php addon version 5.3.1 and switching to those in WAMP and then activating the CURL extension. That worked for me.
